Now that’s not something you expect to hear from a school worker! Former Brooklyn paraprofessional, Milton Parker, punched his autistic student back in 2014 and plead guilty to the act.
The 11-year-old autistic boy, Anatoly Veltman, sustained a concussion after getting punched in the school cafeteria by Parker. According to The Daily News, Parker doesn’t feel sorry because he claims he was just reacting off his reflex. “Who gets hit and doesn’t respond? The kid punched me in the eye first and as a reflex he got hit back,” he said.
After refusing to hand over the video for over a year, a judge recently ordered the city to release the video showing the 2014 incident. Parker says the video only helps to prove his argument.
Parker pleaded guilty last year to misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to anger management classes. School records indicate that before Parker, who is a black man, was struck, Veltman made a racial remark.
According to the school’s records Veltman said “this table is for whites only,” before apologizing and then punching Parker.
